ITANAGAR, Mar 31: APCC President Mukut Mithi today clarified that he was not a member of legislative assembly at the time of killing of late MP Wangcha Rajkumar and therefore it was wrong on the part of BJP MP candidate Kiren Rijiju to drag his name in Wangcha Rajkumar murder case.
“I lost election in 2004 assembly election and after that was busy in party work. At the time of Wangcha’s killing I was Lt Governor of Pondicherry. Therefore question of me participating in the floor of Assembly does not arise,” said Mithi.

Complaint against hate SMS lodged
ITANAGAR, Mar 31: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) general secretary (Hq and Admin) T C Tok has lodged an FIR with City superintendent of police and Itanagar Police Station on March 28 against the SMS on communal tone being circulated in his name from unknown mobile number in the state. Describing it as a shocking, unbelievable and unfortunate act, Tok said “such SMS on communal tone will malign my hard earned image, which is very unexpected. This is totally a handiwork of some people with vested political interest who are trying to create communal tension and divide the society on communal line.” He urged the people not to believe in such false & fabricated SMS.
NHPC distributes computer sets to 8 schools
ITANAGAR, Mar 31: Extending its Corporate Social Responsibility arm, NHPC’s Subansiri Lower Project today distributed 50 computer systems to eight schools of project vicinity.
The computer systems were distributed by Executive Director of the Subansiri Lower Project Mr Rakesh at a glittering function organized at Gerukamukh complex of the project which was attended by the principals, headmasters and students of the recipient schools besides other senior officers of NHPC. The students were also awarded the certificate of completion of the basic IT course.
Speaking on the occasion, Rakesh reiterated NHPC’s commitment towards bringing all round development in the nearby areas of its operations. He stressed on the need for better education for a healthy and prosperous society. He expressed his willingness for providing any help to the students in their endeavour for pursuing higher education.
NHPC has been thriving for quality education in the region. Recently, scholarships worth Rs.47.22 lakh were distributed under its CSR& SD scheme amongst 579 students from project vicinity.
43 students from these schools were earlier provided 15 days crash course on basic computing through M/s ICA, North Lakhimpur unit.
EVMs for Parliamentary elections commissioned
KHONSA, Mar 31: Tirap Deputy Commissioner and DEO of Tirap and Longding districts Kamlesh Kumar Joshi formally commissioned the Electronic Voting Machines [EVMs] for the ensuing East Arunachal Parliamentary election on 31st March in the presence of the Nodal Officer, EVM and other officials. All the EVMs have been sealed after making them ready to use. The sealed EVMs will be kept in the strong room for issuance during the polls on 9th April.
After the completion of preparation of EVMs for the Parliamentary elections, the EVMs for the Assembly elections will be commissioned. The officials have only three days to complete all the exercises. The EVM operation training will be held at different locations shortly in which the master trainers and experts will impart training to the poll officials. In the meantime, other poll related preparations are going on in full swing in both the districts. The much awaited randomization of polling personnel has also been completed. All poll preparations are going on in a peaceful atmosphere. There is no report of any untoward incidents from any quarters. DIPRO
Encourage voters to exercise their voting rights: Central Awareness Observer
DAPORIJIO, Mar 31: Central Awareness Observer for West Parliamentary Constituency, K S Dhatwalia met DEO Tahang Taggu and other officers to discuss the creation of awareness under SVEEP, work of MCMC, EPIC distribution etc in the Upper Subansiri district.
Dhatwalia said that voters should be encouraged to exercise their voting rights and focus should be more on areas where electoral participation is less. He called for provision/setting up of centers to facilitate distribution of EPICs even on the polling day at the polling stations so that no genuine voter is left out. He also emphasized on the need for the provision of basic facilities to the voters.

Expenditure observer stresses on proper maintenance of account
YINGKIONG, Mar 31: Expenditure Observer for Upper Siang District, Yingkiong CK Verma, held a meeting and interacted with the Election Agents of the respective candidates in the conference hall of DC's Office Yingkiong today.
Verma explained the provisions and sections of Peoples Representation Act 1951 according to which the contesting candidates must have maintain proper account/records of expenditure by opening a joint A/c of candidate and the Election Agent.

ITANAGAR, Mar 31: The election battle in Arunachal is getting bitter as poll date nears.
BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi while addressing a massive rally today at IG Park ripped apart the Congress party. Modi urged Election Commission of India (ECI) to take note of how ruling Congress has bullied BJP candidates to withdraw nomination papers and stated that whatever is happening in Arunachal is not good and is against the spirit of democracy.
Virtually issuing warning to Congress in Arunachal Pradesh, he said, “Right now they may be indulging in intimidating and bullying tactics against BJP leaders in Arunachal. But after May 16 when Lok Sabha elections results are out they will have no savior at Delhi as BJP is going to form government at the Centre. “Then we will see who will save Arunachal’s Congress leader.” Further he also alleged that Congress has the culture of buying MLA’s in Arunachal.
Meanwhile Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Mukut Mithi when contacted stated that a person who is aiming to be Prime Minister of India should not have such kind of revengeful attitude. “It’s dangerous to hear such words from him. How can a PM nominee issue such warning? Mr Modi himself has been Chief Minister of Gujarat for quite a long time and should understand that state has its own power and Centre can’t dictate. I think he is not fit to be prime minister of India,” stated Mithi.
He further refuted allegation that Congress indulges in buying of MLAs. “Mr Modi should not think that our MLAs are so cheap. I can vouch that MLAs of Arunachal whether he/she may belong to any party are strong minded people who has their own ideology. Over all, I think Modi’s speech lacked substance. He had no agenda of how to develop Arunachal,” added APCC President.
Modi slams Sonia for her patriotism jibe
ITANAGAR, Mar 31: BJP Prime Ministerial nominee Narendra Modi today addressed a massive rally at IG Park, which saw huge turnout of BJP supporters. State BJP President Tai Tagak, MP candidates Kiren Rijiju and Tapir Gao along with host of party leaders were present on the occasion. The crowd went wild when Modi arrived at the ground. Wearing traditional Nyishi Bopia (headgear) which was presented to him, he did not take much time to connect with the crowd present. “Modi, Modi” chant swept IG Park.
Hitting back at Sonia Gandhi over her patriotism jibe, Narendra Modi said that people of the country did not need a certificate from her and attacked her over the Italian marines issue, questioning at whose behest they were given a chance to leave the country.
Gandhi had on Sunday attacked the BJP, saying, "Some people are beating the drum of patriotism" and added that these people who did not believe in secular values only wanted to "grab power" by misleading the people.
Taking potshots at the Congress President, Modi said she should not raise a question mark on people's love for their country.
Claiming that Gandhi had raised a question mark on the patriotism of the people, Modi asked her at whose direction the two Italian marines accused of shooting Indian fishermen off Kerala coast were allowed to leave the country.
"Who was it at whose behest the government in Delhi gave the marines a chance to go back to Italy," Modi asked. Had the Supreme Court not taken a strong stand on the matter, the marines would not have come back, he said. The Italian marines had been permitted by the Supreme Court to leave the country to participate in Italy's elections. However, when Italy refused to send the marines back, the Supreme Court restrained the Italian ambassador from leaving the country. Italy later relented and sent the marines back.
Hitting out at the Congress further, Modi said that its manifesto was a "dhokhapatra" (cheat sheet) and that the party had in the last elections promised to bring inflation down in 100 days, which had not happened. Modi also raised the issue of the death of Arunachal Pradesh youth Nido Tania in Delhi, saying that he was pained by such incidents but the Congress President had not mentioned the incident when she visited the Northeast yesterday.
Modi alleged that Congress never bothered to react even when Indian soldiers were killed by Pakistanis in Kashmir, nor when people from the North East were being subjected to discrimination in the national capital. "Will the 100 crore Indians need to learn patriotism from Sonia Gandhi?" he quipped and added that people of the country do not require any certificate from the Congress for their patriotic nature.
"The cultural ethos and traditions of the country are fast eroding and people are feeling alienated in their own country... Women are being raped in the (national) capital besides youth from Northeast are killed for racial reasons," he added.
Earlier, stepping up his attack on ruling party, BJP candidate for Western Parliamentary seat Kiren Rijiju in his address said that there is no place for common man in the society under Congress rule.

Calling support for Ninong Ering, Tuki said Ering must be the only MP in several years who has travelled to all corners of his Parliamentary Constituency.
“It is really difficult for an MP to visit his constituency regularly as his job is mostly concentrated in the national capital. Despite the fact, Ering has stayed connected with the grass root people. This shows his sincerity towards the people. And now it is the people’s turn to reciprocate and send him back to Delhi to continue as a Union Minister,” he appealed.

Fire brigade arrived late: House owner
ITANAGAR, Mar 31: The fire department in Roing has been accused of failing to respond to a call of a fire on March 28 that completely gutted two cottages and partially damaged a dwelling house.
According to the victim, the fire brigade arrived half an hour late after they were informed of the accident that occurred at around 10.30 pm.
“I called up the fire brigade after the fire erupted in a cottage adjacent to my house. However, there was no telephone network at that time for which I rushed to the fire station for help personally. But to my utter surprise, no one is there in the fire station at that time,” the victim alleged in a release.
“I also ran to the nearby APP and WT Stations for help but in vain.”

ALCs: Poll time bridge between people and Govt
Itanagar, Mar 31: Trekking the rugged and almost inaccessible terrains of mountainous Arunachal Pradesh, the Agency Labour Corps make polling possible by carrying polling material to remote polling stations and transporting EVMs.
The ALC or porters were first appointed by the British for transporting material.
Even 67 years after Independence, the importance of the ALCs remains as there are no motorable roads in several districts where only porter tracks and mule paths exist.
Services of ALCs are required at the time of transporting public distribution system materials, opening new administrative centres, natural calamities and during polls
The election office here has hired 2100 ALCs to carry poll materials to remote places for the April 9 twin elections to the two Lok Sabha seats in the state and 49 assembly constituencies, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer D J Bhattacharjee said.
"We are dependent on them for transporting election materials to inaccessible polling stations and even during the time of declaring results," he said.
Declaration of results gets delayed in several seats as EVMs are transported by ALCs to the counting centres, which generally involve more than three days of arduous trekking.
In the initial stage, the existing porter tracks were being improved for easy movement of poll officials and porters from one place to another. In the 2009 Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Arunachal Pradesh too, around 1400 ALC were deployed.

CCLAPF urges admin to maintain status quo
ITANAGAR, Mar 31: In the wake of show cause notice issued by the Capital Complex Chief Estate Officer cum ADM for eviction of the structure of one Tadar Yado Tang at E – Sector, Naharlagun, an emergency meeting of Capital Complex Land Affected Peoples’ Forum (CCLAPF) was held today under the chairmanship of Takam Dari Sojik, Chairman, CCLAPF.
After a threadbare discussion, the meeting recalled that in the meeting dated 13.02.2014 of the Govt. constituted high level committee to look into the land occupation and allotment imbroglio of the Capital Complex, held under the chairmanship of Padi Richo, Parliamentary Secretary (UD, Town Planning & Land Management), the committee unanimously adopted a resolution to immediately stop all fresh encroachments and also the eviction processes in Capital Complex till the Committee submits its final report to the government, according to a CCLAPF release.
Accordingly, the Forum had already instructed its members to maintain status quo in respect of fresh encroachments. Since then, the CCLAPF and the government constituted high level Committee has been earnestly engaged in its honest attempt to hammer out a pragmatic and permanent solution to this vexed issue. Vigorous exercises at the government level, including series of meetings, consultations, etc. were conducted to arrive at some logical conclusion/solution to this contentious issue. But for the sudden declaration of the state Assembly Election on 9.04.2014, much headway was anticipated in resolving this issue by now.

Ruksin hospital achieves success in laparoscopic surgery

RUKSIN, Mar 31: Bringing a ray of hope to poor patients, a private run hospital at Ruksin town yesterday claimed to have successfully conducted ‘Laparoscopic Surgery’ to remove gallstones and kidney stones.
A team of surgeon in Ratan Diagnostic Centre & Nursing Home, set up in front of Ruksin Community Health Centre (PHC) here has successfully removed Gallstones from two patients on Sunday last through laparoscopic surgery.
This is the first reported case of laparoscopic surgery done at Ruksin in East Siang
district. The lady patients due of about 30 year-
Dr Kabit Ratan, proprietor of the private Nursing Home informed that another lady patient of chronic Cholecystitis was admitted in his hospital and the doctors successfully removed her gall bladder by undergoing general surgery. All the three patients are kept under intensive care in the nursing home for three days.
The success story has undoubtedly brought a “good message” for the poor patients living in the area, who can’t afford the cost for such treatment.
Explaining the event with enthusiasm, Dr Ratan further informed that the hospitals at Ruksin earlier used to refer such cases either to other places of the state or to Assam hospitals for performing such surgery. He said the cost of surgery in his hospital is too low which poor patient can easily afford.

Cultural extravaganza marks beginning of Mopin fervor

Capital has been celebrating earth hour for the last one year
Dear Editor,
Through the column of you esteemed daily, I would like to bring to the notice of people and concerned department that millions of people around the globe participated in the celebration of the eighth edition of the Earth Hour to show their support for environmental issues ranging from deforestation to energy efficiency. Many events were held across India and other parts of world to mark the day. Lights were switched off in many homes, offices and famous landmarks at 8.30 pm on Saturday for an hour to mark annual Earth Hour.

Reacting to the Modi’s statement at that time Chinese govt spokesperson had stated that China never wages war of aggression to occupy an inch of land of other countries and therefore it is wrong to give such statement. Though Modi is known for strong economic policies but he is yet to come clean in regards to foreign policy. No doubt country stands to gain if he gets tough against enemy but he should be cautious. India can’t afford to have tense relation with the neighbours. For state like ours which shares international boundary with China, the tense standoff will be matter of deep concern. Infact people of Arunachal have been clamoring for opening of border trade with China. Whoever forms next government at centre should take step in this regard.
